Handcrafted Functional Ceramics

Hello. My name is Rachel Lucas. I design and handcraft each piece at Rx Ceramics.
I trained at the National Art School in Sydney. I am privileged to live and work in Killcare on the NSW Central Coast where I draw inspiration from nature - the sky, the bush and the ocean - in the beautiful Bouddi National Park area.

Recently at Moochinside, Killcare. Some pieces still available and more of this range in 'eucalyptus' glaze is currently in production.

Moochinside also has a limited range pieces in this gorgeous glaze.

Star of stage and screen?? Well, the small screen and in a very small way - A shot from 'The Living Room' TV show that featured some pieces.

Do you have a question about my products or my process? Send me a message, and I'll get back to you soon!

If it's been sold, shoot me an email and I will check my stock or make to order (as long as you are not in a hurry. Pottery is a long, slow process when I am the maker. Lots of love goes into each and every piece!)

These pieces have an amazing variegation and metallic highlights when viewed under bright light.

I really love seeing my work being used and enjoyed - so satisfying.
I make a range of dinner ware that includes:
dinner plates and side plates
noodle bowls, cereal bowls and dessert dishes
platters
salad bowls
condiments bowls
Mugs and cups

I make functional pieces that are truly functional. Glazes are food safe and pieces can be used in the microwave and cleaned in the dishwasher. Designs are made for use. For example: The humble mug - designed to fit your hand and, with a fine lip, it is a pleasure to drink from.

I carefully select clay and glaze combinations that give interesting finishes. What can look like a plain blue in a photo is actually a beautiful kaleidoscope.
